Los Tercios españoles, la mejor infantería de su época, demostraron en la batalla de Honnecourt que sus tácticas seguían siendo totalmente vigentes. Es paradójico pensar que el mismo ejército, con los mismos generales y ante el mismo adversario, cosechara una victoria tan amplia y contudente antes de la archiconocida batalla de Rocroi.
